"A mind is a terrible thing to waste."
"I was going to be a teacher, but my mother could not afford the school fees. I had already done two years study." We at the "Messiah Ministries" have heard this same statement over and over again. Some wanted to be doctors, others nurses, dentists and more teachers. ALL wanted to give service to their communities, but had to stop because the financial burden was too much for their families to carry. Father Paul first heard this lament when in the Philippines, which is where his wife Fe lived, and decided to try and help these youngsters fulfill their dreams. The first was a young lady that had been at the University for two years training to be a teacher, then had to drop out, not because she wanted to, because she had no choice. There are no scholarships there, so for here the dream of teaching her village children died. Having talked to Marlyn, a devout Christian, Father Paul discovered she had been a 4.0 student and had a very good reputation. To his horror, he found that it was only $100.00 per semester that had ruined her life. Paying for the fees himself, Father Paul will now watch Marlyn graduating "Cum Laude" this year, and see her take the teaching position in her village as she had prayed for. The next was a young man called Don. Father Paul found Don had a natural gift with caring for animals and so decided set him up with a small pig farm. Don now is able to feed and clothe his family, and send his brother to school. The Lord gives us each gifts and we just need to find out what they are and nurture them. It was then that it was revealed to Father Paul that his calling was to help young people all over the world develop the gifts they had been given, but through no fault of their own could not. One day, after "Evening Prayer", Father Paul heard a soft, calm voice saying: "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of GOD." At once it became clear this was Jesus the "Messiah" speaking of the work he had started and so, through the grace of our Lord, "Messiah Ministries" came into being.
