"Forced Progress is the Destruction of the Ecclesiastical Establishment"

The "Christian Hope Catholic Church" was brought into being by Father Paul W. J. Hook, D.D., Ph. D., who was shocked and dismayed at the steady erosion of values by the population at large, the steady decline of Church attendees, and the loss of tried and true forms of worship. ALL in the name of progress.

Having been brought up in country parishes by Fr. H. H. (Tim) Hook, M.A., Th. D. (Fr. Paul's father) in the United Kingdom, he was witness to the beginning of the destruction of the "Old" church and the emergence of the "New". It did not take long to see the results of this "Progress". While the churches around his parish were emptying, Father Tim's church was growing and growing, to the extent that it broke all records for "Communicants" since the church was first built in 1089 A.D. Why was that? The answer is remarkably simple, he STUCK TO TRADITION and TRADITIONAL VALUES.

People like to be comfortable and one way to ensure this is to stick to things that they remember as children; things that are ordered and easy to follow rather than the "Guess what come next?" approach the "New" order brought with it. The reaction from the "Ecclesiastical Powers" to this idea was hostile to say the least. When Fr. Tim asked why he had to change to the "New" order of service, the answer was "Progress." However, they were at a loss to explain why his church was full while others were dying. Sticking to his principals and moral values caused him to be almost an outcast in the "New" society and church order. Things that were clearly against God's teachings and also a Mortal Sin, now became acceptable and even openly promoted in the name of so called "Rights".

Fr. Paul also was unable to accept this "Progress". Now living in America, he decided to form a "NEW" church that had the "OLD" values. Not surprisingly, his first members were lapsed "Roman" Catholics who wanted the traditional liturgy they remembered as children, but were no longer able to receive. Then one or two "Southern" Baptists came along to find out what was going on and decided they liked the experience and joined also, and so the flower grew. It was hard at first to explain that the name "Catholic Church" had nothing to do with the Pope, due to the fact that the average American has been told from birth there is a difference between "Catholics" and "Protestants.

The fact is:

IF YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN, YOU ARE CATHOLIC; BUT you are NOT a "ROMAN" Catholic.

The meaning of the word "Catholic" is "Universal", look it up in the dictionary for yourself and you will see it has nothing to do with the "Church of Rome" other than by a very common misconception.

So, now you have it. It is time to progress again, from the "New Morals" back to the ones our forefathers knew and valued; from Chaos, to Order; from the Darkness of Sin, to the Light of our Lord Jesus Christ.
