Dominus Vobiscum

(The Lord be with you.+.)

Right Reverend Doctor Paul W. J. Hook, DD, Ph.D.

Born on the Welsh borders in 1947,  Father Paul arrived in the Newland vicarage bedroom where his father was the incumbent priest. Little did Father Tim, (Paul's father) know that his son would follow in his footsteps so many years later. The snow was six feet deep and it was bitterly cold. This may explain why in later life Paul was always looking for warmer climates! As he grew, Paul became very interested in music, as was his father, and became an Organist at various churches. The interest in music was strong enough that by the age sixteen, Paul was playing Ten different instruments including Bagpipes. During this time and up to the age of Twenty Six, he studied under his father, the theological  and pastoral aspects of the ministry. However, this was not to be his path for another Thirty years.

On completing his education at Oxford, a short flying course with the "Royal Navy" confirmed Paul's career for many years. He had obtained his pilots license when he was eighteen and with the thrill of flying jets in his blood, eventually became an Airline Transport Pilot, flying as Captain on Boeing 707,727 and 737 airliners. Then he got another call. A heart attack terminated his aviation career with a jolt! During his time as a pilot, he had been ministering to people all over the world without thinking about what he was doing. It was only after he was grounded and other people asked "Are you now going to be a minister full time?" that the realization came.  To quote Father Paul: " My sorrow and despair turned to Joy and happiness. Suddenly it all became clear what  had happened, the Lord had called me to His service again."

Father Paul is a member of the "ULC Christian Fellowship", and also the "International Chaplain's Association", has a Doctor of Divinity Degree, and also a Doctor of Philosophy in Religion. Being a firm believer in tradition, his ministry is firmly base on the "Old" forms of service (1662/1928 King James) with strong "Anglo-Catholic" over-tones. All denominations are welcome to join in our ministry, which stretches to all corners of God's creation."
